Highs:
- Piloting the car. First time driving manual transmission in 10 years. First time driving in tiny European streets ever. Two roundabouts. Check. Check.
- The local butcher shop. Adorable. Yummy meats, cheeses and salads. Free bits of schweinefleisch handed to kids at each visit. Maybe this carb fest will get under control!
- Nope! Here is the handy fresh bread mobile.
- A trio of kids thrilled with salami sandwiches on fresh bread rolls. The littlest one not-so-much. She will however take some "Froop" yogurt, conveniently named after our little fruit and yogurt eating Froopy!
- Jogging with Emma and other great times with our rapidly growing not-so-little-anymore 9 year old. Writing a novel with her, working on schoolwork together, debriefing after seeing new things, watching her walk into a ballroom of a 15th century castle.
- Chatting with the neighbor across the street who would like her children to learn English in the next couple months from us...
- Anneke discovering blowing the puff of a dandelion head.
- A new and different playground with amazing equipment for busy boys discovered almost daily.
Low's:
- Doing the laundry of the college kid housemate so I can use the washer and dryer! He leaves his things in for days, I have to do a load a day!
- Watching a child lose control of a soccer ball as it goes careening down the steep street into oncoming traffic.
- Watching a child pedal themselves wildly down the street into oncoming traffic.
- Being allergic to Germany. Literally. I wake up each morning with more itchy red welts on my face and swollen eyes. Surprising no one. It seems to improve throughout the day. Prednisone supply depleted already! :(
